I had the chance to play in the MGA Mixed Pinehurst at Bally's Golf Links, and it was an unforgettable day on the course. From the first drive to the last putt, the round was filled with some great shots, some not-so-great shots, lots of challenging greens, and some amazing photo opportunities.
Playing in a Pinehurst format means there’s an extra layer of strategy and teamwork throughout the day. We teed off, then switched to play each other’s ball for the second shot. Afterward, we decided which ball to continue with and alternated shots until the hole was finished. This mix of best ball and alternate shot creates a unique rhythm to the game, with both players constantly involved. It’s part of what makes this format so special—you’re in it together every step of the way, even if your partner shanks a chip shot into a greenside bunker.
As we made our way to the 18th hole, the shadows had grown long, stretching across the fairways. Our score may have been mixed, and a lot of "sorry"s might have been said, but my partner and I are still speaking, so I take that as a success.
